Hudson Taylor and his sisters, Amelia and Louisa loved adventures. Together they explored the countryside as children – but childhood doesn’t last forever, and when Hudson was 21 years old, he left his home and country to travel halfway around the world, to China!
In this biography for youth, they will learn how his family felt, the dangers he faced, and most important of all, why he went to China in the first place: knowing that countless people there knew nothing of the Lord who said “Go into all the world and preach the gospel.”
Hudson was a huge pioneer of new ideas in missions! For instance, he was the first to suggest and try all of these:
He popularized—in the face of severe criticism at first—the now commonplace idea that missionaries should live and dress like the people they seek to evangelize.
When Taylor arrived in China in 1854, many Protestant missionaries were content to minister in the coastal cities. Taylor’s example of pushing into the vast interior of a country was one reason other missionaries began doing so as well.
Taylor—contrary to the mission conventions of his day—believed that single women were fully capable of managing distant mission outposts without the help of male missionaries.

Faith on Trial: Psalm 73 (Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones)
Why do good people suffer unjustly – and yet others get away with it? The Psalmist, Asaph, dealt with this very problem in Psalm 73 – one that has often perplexed and discouraged God’s people. Asaph reveals his own ‘no–holds–barred’ feelings and leads us step by step from near – despair to final assurance.
For this reason, Psalm 73 has always appealed to preachers and counsellors. An excellent book for those struggling with, or wondering about, injustice in the world.

Washed by God: The Story of Baptism (Karl Deenick)
“Whatever you believe about baptism, this valuable book will give you many generous doses of biblical theology, biblical evidence, theological cohesion, and pastoral clarity. It is theologically deep and highly practical. Heartily recommended.” — Peter Adam, Principal of Ridley College, Melbourne, Australia
Baptism is a subject which has caused confusion amongst Christians for many years. Jesus included it in his final charge to the disciples. It is clearly important, so why do we spend so much time arguing about it? Baptism is a God–given sign, not to obscure the gospel, but to make it clearer.
Karl Deenick explains not only what baptism is, what it isn’t, and who should be baptized, but he follows the threads of symbolic cleansing through both the Old and New Testaments. He explains and exalts the gospel and shows how the Old Testament foreshadows Jesus and how he fulfils the Old Testament.

Faith Undaunted: Embracing Faith and Knowledge in a Post-Truth Era (Donald MacLeod)
Christian faith is a matter for the emotions, but also a matter for the intellect. Donald MacLeod delves into not only what he believes, but why he believes, and how that belief affects how he lives his life. Arguing for the importance of reason and logic in personal faith, he equips the reader to resist relativist influences that are permeating the twenty–first–century church.
Winsomely written, Professor MacLeod shows once again why he is a beloved teacher and writer.
