John Calvin: His Life and Influence (Robert Reymond)

$11.00$12.99

So, you don’t consider yourself a Calvinist? Well, John Calvin would probably have been the last man to ask you to. This is the freshest new biography of the man who God used to reform the church and change the lives of many generations, by his insistence that the Scriptures alone be our authority.

Even most students of church history today have little idea who the man John Calvin was, having read more from uninformed contemporary critics than original sources. Robert Reymond has studied Calvin himself and in the light of those who knew him. The reality is quite different from the caricatures often painted today.

John Calvin: His Life and Influence

So, you don’t consider yourself a Calvinist? Well, John Calvin would probably have been the last man to ask you to claim that label.  This is the freshest new biography of the humble, unassuming man who God mightily used to reform the church and change the lives of many generations, by his insistence that the Scriptures alone be our authority.

Even most students of church history today have little idea who the man John Calvin was, having read more from uninformed contemporary critics than original sources. Robert Reymond has studied Calvin himself and in the light of those who knew him. The reality is quite different from the caricatures often painted today.

Endorsements

“Sheds new light on a famous and familiar name. His writing style is scholarly and authoritative intensely interesting reading.”
— D. James Kennedy, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

“Tells the story of Calvin’s life and thought in a compact and compelling way that will serve to acquaint readers with the warm human character of Calvin. His description of Calvin’s masterful statement at the Lausanne Disputation of 1536 is by itself worth the price of the book.’
— William S. Barker Westminster Theological Seminary, Pennsylvania

“Reymond’s book is succinct and comprehensive, appreciative and probing, historical and theological, scholarly and pastoral. Especially valuable is Reymond’s treatment of the burning of Servetus that ameliorates, to some degree, Calvin’s involvement in the tragedy.’
— David Calhoun,Covenant Theological Seminary, St Louis, Missouri
