Do Hard Things

A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations

Written by teens, for teens, Do Hard Things encourages young people to rebel against low expectations, to reach their God-given potential, starting now.

Drawing from history, the Bible, personal experience and contemporary youth culture, they reveal a compelling life portrait of what is possible for teens when they unleash the power of character, competence, and collaboration.

Authored by the sons of homeschool pioneer Gregg Harris.

“Most people don’t expect you to understand what we’re going to tell you in this book.

And even if you do understand, they don’t expect you to care.

But even if you care, they don’t expect you to do anything about it.

And even if you do something about it, they don’t expect it to last.  We do.” — Alex & Brett Harris, founders of The Rebelution

Endorsements

“This will prove to be one of the most life-changing and culture-changing books of this generation.” — Randy Alcorn, Director of Eternal Perspective Ministries and author of Heaven

Do Hard Things is easy to read, but it will challenge you to the core. It is inspiring, insightful, and practical. Parents, this book will get your teens into the right kind of trouble – the kind that comes when they dream, take risks for God, and dare to flout the status quo. Put it in their hands. Read it yourself. It’s never too late to do hard things.” — Joshua Harris, pastor, author, older brother to Alex & Brett Harris

“When I was in high school, Joshua Harris called young people to redeem romance. Now his twin brothers are calling teens to reclaim responsibility. Pointing out that the advent of youth culture and the teenager are fairly new developments, Alex and Brett Harris deliver a knock-out punch to the status quo that modern culture imposes on teens (and no wonder-none other than Chuck Norris wrote the forward for the book!). Not only do they rebel against the expectations of our society, but they raise the bar. It’s to challenge teens to live up to what God expects of them – to be what He has created them for.

Similar in theme to John Piper’s Don’t Waste Your Life, the Harris twins call young people to take on God-given responsibility with a godly attitude – for His glory. This book is about rebelling against low expectations – a subversive movement, not against any person or institution, but against the world’s way of thinking and living. Full of stories, examples, Scripture references, and well-organized thoughts, this book is not deeply theological, but immensely practical.”  — Lauren Scott
