Power Through Prayer (E. M. Bounds)

$6.50$7.99

Resolve to make the coming year a year of commitment to prayer. Pastor and civil war chaplain E. M. Bounds penned his classic book on prayer for the simple reason that Christians don’t pray enough. It quickly became perhaps the most well-known book on prayer ever written. He decried the great evil of his times to be: little or no praying.

“The little estimate we put on prayer is evident from the little time we give to it,” Bounds wrote.

“Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still.” Simple and concise, Bounds’ volume has helped multitudes of Christians renew and strengthen their habits of prayer.

Moody Classics
Of all the factors influencing our spiritual growth and development, pivotal books play a key role. Learning from those who have walked the path and fought the fight brings wisdom and strengthens resolve. And hearing the familiar chords of kingdom living sung by voices from other times can penetrate cultural barriers that limit our allegiance to the King. To this end, Moody Publishers is honored to introduce the first six volumes in what is to be an ongoing series of spiritual classics. Selected for their enduring influence and timeless perspective, these new editions promise to shape the lives of spiritual pilgrims for generations to come.

About the Author

A chaplain during the American Civil War, Edward M. Bounds was a prolific writer especially about the importance of prayer in Christian life. After being released as a prisoner of war, Bounds traveled the country as an itinerant pastor, bringing many to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  He has written six major works on the topic of prayer.

Other quotes from Bounds:

“What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use — men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men — men of prayer.”

“Spiritual work is taxing work, and men are loath to do it. Praying, true praying, costs an outlay of serious attention and of time, which flesh and blood do not relish.”
