About the Author

Amy Carmichael was born in Ireland in 1867. Years later, at the age of 28, she arrived in India to spend all of her remaining 58 years there, pouring our her life in the heroic work of rescuing young girls from cult prostitution, and providing a home for them, a safe haven from those who would abuse them for financial gain. Often misunderstood, Amy endured persecution from unbelievers and much harsh judgment from believers who failed to grasp her calling. Severe physical pain added to her trials, but she still wrote many inspiring works and hymns of praise to God.
