Customer Reviews:

“Uncle John was a unique man with an extraordinary sense of self discipline, which I am sure children today can learn from. His clear conviction of the gospel, willingness to work hard, determination to live simply and truthfully and his authentic relationship with Jesus, are a real challenge and encouragement. This account of his life has been written in a way that engages young readers, and will make them feel they have met the man who was named as Time Magazine’s top 100 most influential people in the world!” — Brenda Beckett

More about John Stott: The Humble Leader

“The author gives a simple but detailed account of Stott’s life and ministry, which is accessible for younger readers. At the end of several chapters there are some brief fact-files with further information about some of the subjects covered. There are also some maps of some of the different locations mentioned within the book.

This book will serve as a useful introduction to one of the finest preachers and Bible expositors of the twentieth century. As this book is directed at younger readers, it does not mention some controversial issues such as the 1966 debate with Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones or Stott’s views on eternal punishment. It does however, detail some of the key moments in his ministry, such as his acquisition and use of the Hookes retreat in South Wales, student missions with Billy Graham, and overseas trips.

There is still much to learn from his ministry today, and the full influence of his ministry still remains to be seen. This book could be a good for stimulating some discussion within Christian youth groups. Hopefully, this book will whet a few appetites to go on with further reading in later years. — Andrew Young, Fraserburgh, UK
