He was born in the year 1483, the gift eldest son on a miner. His parents scrimped and saved to give him everything they never had: a brilliant education, a promising career, a future – but if only they had any idea of God’s amazing plans!

As Martin was making his way back to university one day a thunderstorm changed all that. The threat of lightning sent Martin into a panic – and into the monastery to be a monk.  This was a first step of providence that was to change the world.  A fire was ignited in one man’s heart and he reformed the church from heresy to hope.
