  • Be Thou My Vision: A Liturgy for Daily Worship (Jonathan Gibson)

Every Christian knows the importance of a daily quiet time with the Lord. But anyone who’s been a believer long enough has likely experienced seasons that feel more mundane or routine, leading to aimlessly skimming a couple of Bible verses or praying the same prayer over and over.

In Be Thou My Vision, Jonathan Gibson has created a 31-day liturgical guide designed to provide structure to the daily worship of individuals and families. Each daily reading includes a call to worship, adoration, confession, assurance, creed and catechism, the Gloria Patri, a prayer of illumination, Bible reading, intercessory prayer, and the Lord’s Prayer. Designed to be read in 15–20 minutes a day, this beautifully produced liturgy will give readers focus and purpose to their daily quiet time while teaching them historical prayers, creeds, and catechisms that point them to Christ.

  • The Acrostic of Salvation: A Rhyming Soteriology for Kids (Jonathan Gibson & Timothy Brindle)

The Acrostic of Salvation is a joy to read and recite. Young readers will learn “soteriology”—the study of how God saves us.

Jonathan Gibson and Timothy Brindle present an alphabet of words related to salvation, written to a rhyming beat: A for adoption, B for baptism, C for communion, all the way to Z. All the words paint a detailed and varied portrait of what salvation through Jesus is all about.

Using the alphabet to teach about God has a rich history in the Bible, especially in the Psalms and Lamentations. Several of the psalms—notably Psalm 119—begin with letters of the Hebrew alphabet, forming an acrostic that spells out the entire alphabet.

The authors make learning about soteriology memorable and fun. Their book shows “By faith, we’re now connected to Jesus our treasure; Forgiven and changed in him, he keeps us forever.”

Illustrated by C. S. Fritz, The Acrostic of Salvation is the third in the series, Acrostic Theology for Kids, introducing children ages five to eleven to systematic theology uniquely on their age level.

  • The Shorter Catechism Explained From Scripture (Thomas Vincent) (#16)

The shorter catechism has been used for centuries as a teaching basis for an introduction to the doctrines of the Christian faith. This London pastor of the 17th century made extensive use of it to train his young people, and his explanation of the catechism has been an invaluable, classic work, reprinted many times over the centuries.

In the opinion of B.B. Warfield, the Westminster divines left to posterity not only ‘the most thoroughly thought out statement ever penned of the elements of evangelical religion’ but also one which breathes ‘the finest fragrance of spiritual religion’. Their most influential work, ‘The Shorter Catechism’, was intended as a teaching basis for an introduction to the Christian Faith. No London pastor made more effective use of it than Thomas Vincent (1634-1678) and when this ‘explanation’ was first published in 1674, John Owen, Thomas Watson along with 38 other signatories to the Preface, declared their belief that it would ‘be greatly useful to all Christians in general’.
