A Little Rebel Becomes a Saint
New Edition of another 19th century classic! Charles, a rambunctious orphan, is adopted by a wealthy older couple, but it quickly becomes clear that his adoptive father, Mr. Raymond, is a very ungodly man, while Mrs. Raymond is a devoted Christian woman.
Throughout Charles’ childhood, Mrs. Raymond patiently but firmly trains Charles in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, as he struggles to learn the ways of the Lord. Charles constantly finds himself tempted to many disobedient behaviors. Little Daisy and the Swearing Class
Daisy’s parents were thought to have died when she was a little girl, from a disaster on the high seas. And so, although gentle little Daisy now lived in an ungodly home, she had not forgotten how her parents had brought her up in the Lord. One feature of life she had never experienced in her home with her parents was foul language.
While trying to make some income by selling flowers on a street corner, Daisy heard much awful talk from the people who passed by. One day, her tender, childlike rebuke to a man named General Forster, deeply touched his heart. He came to understand the sinfulness of taking God’s name in vain. The changes in General Forster were huge!
But could Daisy have ever imagined that one day, this changed man would adopt her as his very own daughter? What a wonderful and merciful outcome the Lord had in store for her!

Roses and Thorns
These two short stories in one, Roses and Thorns, and the shorter story, Prison Roses, were regarded as one of the most appealing of the volumes published in the 1800’s by the American Tract Society for the promotion of Christian character.
In the setting of Aunt Eleanor sharing stories from her rocking chair with her niece and nephew, the priority of integrity and honesty in all that we do shines forth about careless words, lost children, thunderstorms and thoughtful sisters.

Tampering with Temptation
A collection of short stories to show the sad results that come our way when we do not resist temptation: In the 1st story, Young Martin and the Silver Sixpence, Bernard Martin’s carelessness with his employer’s money gets him in trouble, and then he is tempted to conceal something in his possession which is not his.
The 2nd story, the famous and much-published Farmer Goodwin’s Rule (never do during the day that which will worry you at night), Randy is ashamed of being the one who stands for what is right and learns the hard lessons that come when we compromise our principles.
In the 3rd story: Albert and Herbert: Who is the Coward?, Herbert fails to muster up the courage to say “NO!” These stories will ring true in children’s hearts and consciences as they remember similar situations that revealed their true character!

The Bible in the Wall
A true story about a man who repeatedly rejected the gift of a Bible. Hoping to rid himself of a Bible kindly offered him, Antonio buries it into a brick wall. In God’s amazing ways, the very same Bible returns to him, at a time when he is more inclined to listen to the Word of God. A story which has taught many to reverence and value the privilege of having God’s Word.
The book also includes a second story, The Harvest Home, which speaks to the heart about whether we have truly learned to be thankful for the many blessings which our God is constantly showering our paths with.

The Little Medicine Carrier
No story in The Children’s Character Building Collection is more loved by children than The Little Medicine Carrier.  Now, in a new edition with a beautiful cover, painted by Caffy Whitney!
It’s the story of a small, poor boy named George, who seeks to help his mother provide for the family by taking a job delivering medicines for the town doctor to the ill people of his village.
George’s journeys around the town become quite adventurous! – as he meets some who inspire him to serve God more faithfully, but others who seek to get him to yield to temptations to be deceitful and dishonest. This is an outstanding story for teaching your children about the value of integrity and faithfulness, even when no men are watching us, but to live as people who know that all our actions are noticed by the eye of God.

The Weed with an Ill Name
New cover and type-set edition of one of our finest children’s stories, reprinted from the 19th century. Few children’s books speak frankly with them about their own sinful nature and inclinations; or their tendency to judge harshly those who sin in ways that they do not believe themselves capable of.
There may be no children’s story ever published which displays these points better than this one — and also persuading children how sin is like the tough roots of weeds, which must be pulled out of their hold in the soil, before they by degrees take over the entire field of our hearts.

Theobold the Iron-Hearted
A battle in medieval times brings about a unique situation between two enemy knights, Theobold and Erhard. Unknowingly, after Theobold thought he had killed Erhard, he finds himself wounded and being cared for in the house of Erhard’s father.
This story teaches the principle Jesus brought forth in Matthew 5:44, “But I say unto you, ‘love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.’” Also has new internal drawings and improved type-setting, from the old edition.

Wandering May
Published for the first time in over 100 years! Wandering May, (sometimes known by the title, “Come Unto Me”), tells the story of a young girl from Farleigh Village and how heartbroken and lonely she is, when forced to move from the village she loves, into the city — that is, until she discovers God’s good purpose in it. He has brought her to the city so that a new friend would teach her about faith in Christ!
May learns the real meaning of Jesus’ words, “Come unto Me.” This is one of the best stories we’ve ever had the privilege of putting into print.
