Looking Unto Jesus is a jewel of a volume that explains how the Lord Jesus Christ brings to pass every aspect of the great work of man’s salvation, from first to last.  And shows us the sheer joy we can have in knowing that!

We have all heard before that we must turn our eyes away from everything that diverts our sight from “looking unto Jesus”. Why?  Well, most plainly, because we cannot fix our eyes on Christ, and other things, at the same time.  The eyes cannot look upwards and downwards at once in a direct line.  We cannot seriously set our minds on heaven and earth in one thought.  Put simply, “No man can serve two masters”, is how Jesus said it (Matt 6:24).

Because, while we look on earthly things, we cannot see the beauty that is in Christ. Indeed, beauty is the attraction of the soul, the soul must see a beauty in that which it desires.  But our longing looks after other things diminishes the desirability of Christ in our eyes.
