Since the Reformation, catechisms have been important means for Christian parents to use as they instruct their children. This illustrated edition of The Baptist Catechism is a welcome addition to the toolbox for believing families. It will draw children in and aid them in learning the great truths of the Word of God.

Thomas Scott in The Force of Truth, recalled the impact that a poem from Isaac Watt’s for children entitled “The All-seeing God,” had on him in the process of his coming to a saving faith in Christ. Having been an Anglican clergyman of rationalistic, virtually Socinian, persuasion, this poem remembered caught his conscience and led to ever deeper consideration of an orthodox doctrine and the claims of gospel truth. In that context he wrote, “Parents may from this inconsiderable circumstance be reminded, that it is of great importance to store their children’s minds with such useful matter, instead of suffering them to be furnished with such corrupting trash, as is commonly taught them.” This catechism with its engaging approach for children is perfectly fit to fill Scott’s salubrious prescription. Use it faithfully, convictionally, affectionately; It will not leave the minds of your children and may, by God’s grace become the means of a saving closure with gospel truth.
