The Author shares about herself and her work:

My name is Catherine Mackenzie and I’ve been writing biographies for Christian Focus Publications for nearly twenty years now.  I have written some other children’s books, but all of my children’s material is written with the theme of ‘redeeming love’ – and as William Cowper said, ‘and shall be till I die’.  This is my prayer… that I will be faithful to Christ in what I write and that his word and his power will bring many to trust in him from all nations.

Catherine has written numerous biographies for the very young in the Little Lights series, and many others in the Trailblazers series for children 8-12.

A famous movie was made in the 1950s about Gladys Aylward, The Inn of Sixth Happiness.

Gladys became a Chinese citizen in 1936 and was a revered figure among the people.  She took in orphans and adopted many of them herself. Gladys famously intervened in a terrible prison riot and brought it to a halt!  She worked for prison reform, risking her life many times to help those in need. Gladys personally led over 100 children over mountainous terrain to safety during a time of war and brought many of them to faith in Christ.  Gladys never married, but spent her entire life devoting herself to Christian work with the people of China.
