Note: all editions of Gadsby’s contain no musical score, only words. However, we are deeply thankful that The Companion Tune Book to Gadsby’s Hymnal is also available, providing the musical score.

About William Gadsby, compiler

William Gadsby (1773-1844) joined the Baptist Church at Coventry, England, in 1793 shortly after his conversion and by 1798 began to preach. By 1800 he was serving as pastor at Desford, Leicestershire, and two years later he re-located to another church in the town of Hinckley. In 1805, he moved to Manchester, becoming minister of a chapel in Rochdale Road, where he continued until his death. His works include:
