Commendations of the Pocket Puritans series from Sinclair Ferguson:
“To read the work of a Puritan doctor of the soul is to enter a rich world of spiritual theology to feed the mind, heart-searching analysis to probe the conscience, Christ-centered grace to transform the heart, and wise counsel to direct the life. This series of Pocket Puritans provides all this in miniature, but also in abundance.”
A Review from Sharon James:
I first read this wonderful description of God’s perfect love when I was about twelve years – and I have returned to it regularly since then. Inspiring at any time, but a special comfort at time of bereavement.
About the Author
Jonathan Edwards (1703–1758) was born a little over seventy years after the first Puritan settlement of New England. At the time of his birth there were some 130 towns in the colony. He served the Northampton Congregational Church in Massachusetts for twenty-three years. Later in life, he moved to a missionary outpost to the Mohawk and Mohican tribes. In 1758, he became president of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University). Edwards “is widely acknowledged to be America’s most important and original philosophical theologian,” and one of America’s greatest intellectuals.
