A Call for the Endurance of the Saints

Chapters by John Piper, John MacArthur, Jerry Bridges, Randy Alcorn, and Helen Roseveare on perseverance, emphasizing the necessity of lifelong endurance in the Christian life.

Long, steady, hold-the-course perseverance is especially needed in our vacillating generation. This thoughtful book thus not only elevates the virtue of godly endurance but bears witness to its power in the Christian life through the exhortations of John Piper, who also provides the context and overview for the entire book.

Each author contribute a chapter representing a different facet of endurance:
John MacArthur’s chapter is about longtime, faithful shepherding of a church.

Randy Alcorn’s is about radical obedience in the culture wars.
Jerry Bridges’ chapter is on unswerving patience through suffering.
Helen Roseveare’s chapter is about courageous constancy on the war-torn mission field, from her years serving in the Congo.

STAND is a book that can awaken and solidify rugged, Christ-exalting endurance in people who are weary in their faith journey or who simply long to remain firm to the end.
