About the Author 

Thomas Boston (1676-1732) served as pastor of a very small congregation in Simprin, Scotland from 1699 – 1707.  He was an extremely popular preacher, though self-effacing, considering himself to be a man of “small talents.”  Boston was reluctant to publish his works, although he wrote out all his sermons completely, making it an easy matter to bring their wealth into print.  The result was, their publication many times after his death at the young age of 57.
